High St Committee

When was the group formed?

The group started in March 2004, wherein they attracted 16 members to the committee. The group is managed by the Cole Brothers who run a cafe on the High Street and Pat from PP Gems Jewellers.

The three local Councillors support the group in anyway they can, Mike Andrew BMBC Area Forum Officer and Claire Pearson BMBC Community Engagement Officer offers support to the group whenever needed.

Why the group was formed?

Wombwell Town Centre was being hit hard, with businesses on the decline the High Street was dying. The Christmas period was like any other time of the year. No-one was making any effort; none of the businesses were communicating with each other.

Call into Cole Brother’s Cafe on the High Street and speak to either Andy or Dave Cole. They are the main contacts for the Committee, if you want to know anything else about the work that the Committee does they will be happy to chat to you any day apart from Wednesday as the cafe is closed.
